UPDATE July 13th, 7:30 PM EDT

Moments after President Trump began speaking at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, popping noises that sounded like gunshots were reported. The former president was seen grabbing the side of his face and then ducking behind the podium as Secret Service covered him.

Although bleeding near his ear, President Trump rose to his feet with the assistance of the Secret Service and pumped his fist into the air to cheers from the shocked crowd of nearly 30,000 people. He was defiant as he told the protecting contingent he needed to get his shoes.

There are reports that microphones near the stage picked up an unidentified person saying, “shooter down.” The Secret Service moved him quickly into the motorcade vehicles, and Trump was rushed from the scene.

The Secret Service has reported that there was an “incident” at the rally, and that the president is “safe.”

Trump is being checked out at a local medical facility. The Whitehouse has said that President Biden has been briefed.

This story is still breaking and being developed as new information becomes available.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump and those attending to him, as well as his family.
  • For the Secret Service and law enforcement officials as they investigate.
  • For those in attendance who might have been hurt amidst the chaos.
